Aerifying

We are aerifying  some weak spots throughout the course which are some of the tees,fairways,roughs and around greens. The rainy weather has kept us from being able to clean up the plugs. If you come up on these areas please do not drive through them. These areas should also be played as ground under repair. Once it dries out we will get the plugs up and these areas fertilized to help promote growth.

New forward tee #15

The ladies might like this one! The new tee on #15 is 100 yards from the hole.

Bentgrass seed

Our greens at Brickshire are L93 bentgrass.

For those that were wondering how big bentgrass seed is here you go.

Seeding greens

We are seeding the bad spots on the  greens. After we seed with this "high tech" shaker can on a stick we work the seed into the soil. We keep the soil moist and it should take about 7 to 10 days for the seed to germinate. Got to love this weather!😎

New forward tees on #2 and #7

We have just finished sodding the new forward tees on numbers 2 and 7. If Hermine doesn't wash the sod off it will certainly  help with our lack of water. We also sodded some more of the wear areas next

to #3 green. If you can try and stay off of these areas we would appreciate it.

Aerifying Greens

We are aerifying greens today and tomorrow. It will help relieve the greens from compaction. It will bring in oxygen, expell gases and many other benefits.

#2 Ladies Tee

We are adding the last loads of dirt to #2 ladies tee and will be sodding soon.

Irrigation leaks

Since the rain the last couple of days we are able to shut down the Irrigation system  and work on some leaks. The problem for most of the leaks are the foot valves in the sprinkler heads. The rubber gasket breaks down and the heads start to weep.

                                                                                         The other leaks that we have are a couple of quick couplers that we use to hand water the greens with are leaking and we are replacing those as well.

We are putting that nice edge back on the bunkers. It adds a nice touch.

Getting ready for sod

We are sod prepping some areas and should have sod on the ground Tuesday.  We are just about done with the new forward tee on #2. We are also working around the green on #15. We will also be building a new forward tee on #15. All of this should be sodded early next week. Keep in touch with the blog as we will be sodding more areas throughout these warmer months.

Pumphouse repair

I would like to thank Bob Burke and DZ once again for another repair to the course. They have been repairing the exterior of the pump house that has degraded over the years. This repair was needed and we do not have the tools at the shop to do these kind of projects .  It is a huge benefit  to us that these two gentlemen are eager to help.  Thanks again and job well done.

Light aerifying

We are doing a light aerification and topdressing to open the greens for better water absorption. The holes are small as you can see in the first picture and the topdressing is light. This process should be unnoticeable in a couple of days.
